Hello Ingo,

the wheel arrived yesterday at noon, super packed, thank you.

Thanks also for the enclosed tire and documentation, the springs and the second FutureShock cover.

However, when checking the condition, I noticed a few points.

The rear wheel bearing runs so rough and hooky that you can feel the vibrations on the pedal (wheel on stand and rear wheel freewheels).

The bottom bracket makes the same noises, sounds like a lot of sand in it.

The Ahead cap does not fit cleanly on the stem you have mounted (stem has a slanted top end, the Ahead cap pulls straight towards the thread.

After freeing the chain and drive from the stuck grease/sand mixture, I could tell that the chain was absolutely ready. The Rohloff Caliber2 gauge "falls in", the chain is well past the wear point where it should be changed before it damages the sprockets.

The frame has drag marks from the tire behind the bottom bracket knot.

Both wheels need to be re-centered, the rear wheel has radial runout, the front wheel has lateral and radial runout.

This is not what I expected and should have expected under the condition very good.

Renew wheel bearings, bottom bracket and chain, center wheels, Ahead solution is still unclear to me.

I like the wheel and I would also like to keep it. What to do now?

Best regards,

Roland

Hello Roland,, better we talk on the phone. I was not aware of that so. For the Ahead cap, the bike dealer also had no solution, the other together with the hard spring fit cleanly. I see two options. Many greetings, Ingo

I can not send a number here, maybe email works. ingok29atgmx.de

Hey Ingo,

okay no topic, then it comes when it comes ;-)

I think he also liked it in the Lower Rhine. And around Esslingen it is great for road cycling, in the vicinity I lived before.

Gladly attach the 33er, that's great, I have to drive here not so narrow tires, more comfort.

Best regards,

Roland

Hello Roland, the wheel is on the way. I have everything well packed. Brake secured. Please check then if everything is running and in order. Many greetings, Ingo

Hello Ingo,

I understand that, I feel the same way when I give a good bike out of my hand. I promise you that it will be fine with me. It is maintained and kept in top condition, then lives in the Allgäu, sees many mountains and passes and will hopefully be a good companion for me.

Because of the stem, I'm a little taller than you and tend more to a more upright position, so I think I would take the 6er and try it with that.

Without pedals fits, I'm on Look Keo on the road.

Super that you have already scheduled the shipping company, thank you! Do you think you could put the pickup on Thursday? I'm going Friday noon over the weekend in the high Alps, ie I can not accept Saturday uuuuund ;-) it could already have its first use on the weekend!

That would be the hammer!

Best regards,

Roland

Hi! Well, I do not think that goes so fast! Since I'm still on the Mosel with another bike, I unfortunately do not make it sooner. High Alps sounds good! On the Lower Rhine it is only flat used to. Last year it made the Ruhrtalweg and at least made it to Esslingen. Mantel I enclose you still the Wtb 33 for the rear. Or do you want to ride the 25?
Many greetings, Ingo

Hello Ingo,

I can't find any other way to contact you than here, that's why:

I am very excited about the new Radl :-)

Can you attach the original invoice and workshop invoices, purchase receipts, documents about the bike etc.? I like it very much when the history to a wheel is complete.

With which stem you ship the wheel?

I have right in mind that the wheel comes without pedals or? Only that I can already take care of...

Best regards,

Roland

Hello Roland,

Congratulations. I somehow found it a little hard....

What stem do you want 10 or 6? Yes, without pedals. Evtl I can make you still used SPD pedals on it if you want.

I'll see what I still have bills. The wheel was last year times in the workshop. Clicking noises came probably from the fork. Everything tightened, ready. Otherwise was only initial inspection.

The shipping company I have scheduled for Friday.
Many greetings

Hi Ingo, thanks for your quick reply. Your description sounds otherwise very good. The brakes are from the 105 series, I understood correctly or? Are the brake levers also 105s or Ultegra? I find your bike highly interesting, might you send some more pictures? Also detail photos, frame, scratches, signs of use, etc.?

Your front tire looks tight on the fork ;-) but runs well?

And too bad that you are from Kempen and not Kempten... otherwise we could save the shipping

Hello Roland, there is nothing on the brake levers, s photos. Signs of use from leaning on the brake levers, the wheel is crash-free. Front tire 33 tight, but runs. Rear currently Marathon plus. Way too heavy, 37 runs and fits. Off road. Original was 25. photos posted. Look. Currently very short stem because the reach is too long for me. Still have 6s and 10s specialized.

Servus Ingo, I have a question about the seatpost. Do you still have the original carbon post? Is the original also round like the Ritchey Alu used by you? And how is the flex with the aluminum post?

Ingo K. Merchant

2mos ago

Hello Roland, yes, I use them on my gravel bike. You can still see them in one of the photos.

The Ritchey I'm hardly driven, is virtually new. Can I say little, drives perfectly ok.

I'm 193cm would this bike be too small?

Ingo K. Merchant

6mos ago

Phew, hard to say. That depends on various measurements such as leg length. however, I think not. I'm 1.83 and it's too big for me.

Hello Ingo, thank you for your answers. That helps me already. I'm still pondering what I do with such a wide handlebar (now I have 420mm) us such a long crank (z.Zt. I have a 170er) And with the price.

Bin now erstmal a week on vacation and report back. If it goes away in the meantime, I just had bad luck.

Greetings Wolfgang

Good day Ingo,

Specialized in Hamburg has nothing to try. But have just in the neighborhood a "Roubaix SL4" from about 2015 or 16 can test. The wheel fit quite well. I would only change small things like handlebar width, crank length and especially cassette.

Therefore, once again a few questions:

What cassette / crank combo are installed with you?

What crank length has the wheel?

Does it have the typical Specialized Roubaix handlebar with Rise? What width?

Could you please measure again the handlebar height. Lt. Geometriedaten should have your wheel 23mm more stack than what I tried today. And there the handlebar height was exactly 1000mm (measured at the stem clamp for the handlebar).

Gibtls possibly still a picture without bags? Are the bags eingentlich part of the offer?

Many questions, I know. Would help me. Thanks in advance.

Greetings Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang, to my knowledge the Roubaix 2017 has completely changed geometry compared to the SL 4: "The Roubaix 2017 has a completely revised geometry compared to the SL4. Almost every metric is different, although the stack and reach have barely changed. The wheelbase, for example, is much shorter at 993mm compared to the SL4's 1011mm, while the steering angle has become steeper, the head tube shorter and the bottom bracket lower."

On the handlebars, "After just a quick look at the new Roubaix, you'll notice the new handlebars, which we already know from the Venge ViAS. The Aerofly handlebar is part of the Venge's comprehensive aero package and helps the aero racer save up to 5 minutes per 40 kilometers with the right components. So what helps with sprinting certainly won't go amiss on the long haul. 15mm of rise, 125mm of drop and a 75mm reach also provide the Roubaix with a decent aerodynamic profile."

Handlebar width 48cm

Crank length 19cm praxis

Handlebar height 1.00 or 1.01m at the top

https://www.bikeexchange.de/blog/specialized-roubaix-2017-10-fakten

No, the bags are not included!

Stack is possibly higher due to the FutureShock suspension

Many greetings, Ingo

Photo gladly the days...

Hi Ingo, thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I meant the height as on the photo. Simply to be able to estimate the saddle cant. Lt. my Bikefitter I need a saddle height of 79 with a saddle cant of 2 cm. (Am already 75 and no longer come down so well, but still ride almost every day with pleasure).

For me would be interesting so the total height of the saddle perpendicular to the ground at 79 height and against it the upper edge handlebar height perpendicular to the ground.

On this occasion, what tires and width are installed?

And, is the wheel really as comfortable as z.Teil on the Internet in various reviews to read?

Glad about an answer on occasion.

Greetings Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang, at currently 78cm saddle height from the middle of the bottom bracket is the cant with a 10er stem already at 2.5 cm. Saddle height total currently at 1025mm. Handlebar height 1000.

Tires front WTB 33, rear Schwalbe MarathonPlus 37. puncture proof ;-) Wider does not go!

Comfortable already, damping in front is noticeable. Currently mounted with a ritchey-Alustütze.

For me, the frame is a bit too big, am about 1.83. Especially the Reach.

Many greetings

Good day Ingo,

I think the bike could fit for me. To be more sure, I would like to know at what height the saddle is set (ie center bottom bracket along the seat stretches to the top of the saddle)?

Thanks in advance for an info and greetings
