Vintage Raleigh SBDU 1982 Time Trial Special 753R 60.5cm Eroica
1982 Raleigh Time Trial Special, SB 5722 built in Reynolds 753R tubing by Raleigh's Specialist Bicycle Development Unit.
The frame is unusual these days in being in great unrestored condition and still in its original paint. A couple of very small patches have been carefully touched up over the years but you have to look pretty hard.
It's very lightweight, very fast and rides beautifully. I've used it for everything from vintage events to modern sportives to light touring and it's been a joy every time.
The bottom bracket is stamped '60.5' which is the measurement from centre bottom bracket to the TOP of the seat tube. It measures 58cm to the centre of the top tube.
It's built up as follows:
Crankset, bottom bracket, front and rear derailleurs, brake calipers and levers (including very rare correct hoods), pedals and hubs are Shimano Dura Ace 7200 and ax.
Headset is Stronglight A9 roller bearing
Stem is 3ttt
Bars are Cinelli Criterium
Levers are Simplex Retrofriction
Saddle is an Iscaselle Tornado
Rims are Mavic MA clinchers with Veloflex tyres
Even the cable outers are original Dura Ace.
PLEASE NOTE: The ax cranks have unusual 1" pedal threads which only fit the ax pedals fitted. I have included a set of allow thread converters which allow normal 9/16th 20tpi pedals to be fitted.
Please have a close look at the photos as they give a better impression of this bike than a written description.
The bike is collection only and really needs to be seen.
