More details

30 years ago this was a top of the line racing bike, with Campagnolo Record STI shifters and brakes, Croce d´aune derailleurs, hubs, and crankset, the legendary Omega wheels. I bought it to have a "Sunday" vintage steel bike, sadly it is now sitting in the garage, as I have too many other bikes and scarce of time to enjoy a bit of a retro day at the Caffee.

Top tube is 52 cm long, crankset is 170 mm long, gear range is 52/39-25-13 8 speed, STI shifters (on handle brake release, so you can pop the brakes off while climbing).

All parts working, some love is needed with regular maintenance of hubs and BB, but so does your Specialized SL8, except you can repair this at home.

It has the kiss of time, yes, but considering it is the same age as I am, and we just happened to be at the same place, same time in 2017, it is holding up remarkably well. Vintage bike, you have to anticipate some nicked paint, some decals off, some stains on the chainring that refuses to go away. The worksmanship is extraordinary, detialed to madness, from the perfect faces, to the chromed parts, precise paintworks, the the ride quality, it is like the espresso you enjoy on a mountain pass, during sunrise, on a melancholic Sunday dawn. Handling is like on rails, but nimble, the TTT handlebars are elegantly curved, narrow, as you would expect.

Since 2017 I had to change the following parts

1. Pulley wheels (I still have them if you want, can be included in the pack)

2. Chain - of course (Campa C9 - sort of period correct)

3. two cogs - they were worn, most likely the some guy used only 3-4 for cruising

4. Saddle - the bike came with some grandpa saddle, so I changed it for a period correct, albeit damaged original Concor saddle (it was damaged on a different bike)

5. Seatpost is worn, but managable, however I bought a replacement, I can add it to the pack free of charge, with a working saddle, as I have no use for them

6. I would change the bar tape, it is usable, but not so good looking. Find something nice, a yellow cork or something.

7. hood grips (the rubber) to original campagnolo - so it will not melt in your hands, and stiff enough to feel new

Everything is woring on the bike, it is maintained, cleaned and stored in a garage, next to my living room´s wall. No rust, as I did not use it in winter, did not use it on the turbo trainer and did not have any crashes with it. I´ve put in 3000 kms in my years.

Take good care of it. It will love you back.
