The new Felt AR Advanced sets new standards in terms of aero road bike.
The frame has been designed according to a new Fahrtwindtheorie. This assumes that the airstream hits the frame most of the time only at an angle of + / - 5 °. Previously, frame construction assumed flatter angles of +/- 10°. Accordingly, the tube cross-sections look different. While the tubes of the AR predecessor were still completely rounded and resembled an ellipse in cross-section, the new tubes have been rounded from the front and blunted from the back. According to measurements, the new, more angular shape of the tubes makes the frame additionally stiffer at the bottom bracket and head tube.
Chainstays and seat tube have also been optimized for wider wheels. Thus, up to 30mm tires can be mounted. The thru axles close flush with the dropouts and result in a smooth transition.
At the bottom bracket is a specially designed chain catcher that keeps the chain from jumping off the small chainring or getting wedged between the bottom bracket and crank.
Stem and handlebars are carbon as standard. The brake and shift cables are integrated into the stem, reducing air turbulence at the front.
