Fausto Coppi : A five-time champion of the Giro d'Italia (1940, 1947, 1949, 1952 and 1953) and two-time winner of the Tour de France (1949 and 1952), he was the first of the few riders in history to do so in 1949, winning both competitions in the same season and repeating the feat in 1952. He won 122 races during his sporting career, was world road cycling champion (1953) and set the world record for one hour (1942).
