I've built this from the ground up. I really like the mechanical brakes because a switch bikes and frames around a lot and they are easier to work on. I've got this setup to be able to run a single chainring in the front without needing to adjust anything on the rear. When I need to save weight I would switch the front chainring and remove the front derailleur. I have the cable for the front derailleur linked up with a barrel adjuster so that I can remove the cable without undoing the bar tape to remove the housing.
I've got a pretty big gear ratio on this using Wolf Tooth's Road Link on the rear cage.
These tires have very few miles on them. The wheels are a pretty burly set of Hope MTB wheels that have very outdated MTB specs but are optimal for gravel tires.
