Hier zur Abwechslung mal etwas richtig Schnelles, gebaut aus den legendären 753-Rohren von Reynolds. Das 753-Rohr war das erste gehärtete Set in der Rennradindustrie mit einer Wandstärke von 0,7/0,5 mm am Oberrohr und basierte auf dem 531-Rohr. Viele Rahmenbauer hatten anfänglich Schwierigkeiten, das dünne Rohr zu verarbeiten, da es bei Überhitzung leicht beschädigt wurde. Das 753 wurde später durch das Reynolds 725 ersetzt und ist heute nur noch auf spezielle Anfrage erhältlich.

Ich vermute, dass es sich hier um einen frühen Rahmen aus einer belgischen Manufaktur handelt, der auf Kundenwunsch gefertigt wurde. Im Katalog von 1984 finden sich die Modelle "Team Issue" und "Professional". Der "Professional" ist zwar mit verchromter Kettenstrebe abgebildet, trägt aber bereits die typische, pantografierte Gabel der späteren Corsa-Extra-Modelle. Allerdings sind diese Modelle bereits mit einem Anlötsockel für Schaltungen ausgestattet, die bei meinem Modell fehlen. Wenn jedoch die Geschichte mit dem 753-Rohr stimmt, wurde dieser Rahmen vermutlich auf Kundenwunsch gefertigt, und es könnte sein, dass bewusst auf den Sockel verzichtet wurde.

Ich habe den Rahmen ohne jegliche Anbauteile erworben und ihn mit einer schwarzen Dura-Ace/Crane 7000-Gruppe ausgestattet. Zwar entspricht dies historisch nicht dem Stand der Technik Anfang bis Mitte der 80er Jahre, aber das war für mich zweitrangig. Farblich ergibt sich dadurch eine perfekte Harmonie. Als Sattel habe ich den Selle Italia Superturbo gewählt. Vorbau, Lenker und Sattelstütze stammen von SR Royal, die Pedale sind schwarze Hakenpedale von Kyokuto Strada. Das Gesamtgewicht des Fahrrads beträgt etwa 9,6 kg, bedingt durch die auf Mavic GP4-Felgen geklebten Reifen und die Mavic 500 RD Bulletproof-Naben.
