Favorit "Special"
Racing bike made in Czechoslovakia in the early 70s.
Size: 55cm seat tube x 58cm top tube (c-c)
The Favorit Special was the dream of any cyclist enthusiast of Eastern Europe during the 70s. Aside from russian made bicycle which were heavier and of lesser quality components and tubing, the Favorit stood out as a high quality craftsmanship, particular lugs and seat stays of surely unique parts of also very good quality. It's impressive to notice that the Favorit factory in the former Czechoslovakia produced every part on the bicycle. And not only that they produced them, but they took the care to also place their logo on them.
It's interesting to explore the particularities o these parts such as the interestingly build and sturdy steel seatpost or the brakee lever adjuster bolts. Even the brake lever hoods are "Favorit" brandeed. The push rod front derailleur has a unique way of having the cable routed so that it becomes functional.
Except the Campagnolo Gran Sport hubs, Mavic Module E2 rims and Gipiemme pedals, all mechanical parts on this bicycle are "Favorit" original. We've chose to restore this bicycle such as to keep as much as possible of the original bicycle, color and patina.
The wheels have been built from scratch using mirror polished Mavic Module E2 rims (36h), new Sapim spokes and nipples laced to Campagnolo Gran Sport hubs also in perfect condition that have also been polished. The wheels are fitted with Michelin Dynamic Classic foldable 32mm tires.
