FOR SALE Vitus 979 classic aluminium road bike from the 1980s. For people between 1.80 m and 1.95 m
First aluminum racing bike marketed by Vitus, one of the pioneers of bonded aluminum frames.
Vitus was France's leading manufacturer of high-quality frame tubes. Its products were a match for Reynolds and Columbus. Their aluminum and carbon fiber frames were used by Sean Kelly, Greg LeMond and Miguel Indurain.
The Vitus 979 marked the beginning of these adventures. It was launched in 1979 and features Duralinox 5083 aluminum-magnesium alloy tubes bonded into aluminum dropouts. The geometry of this frame is stiffer than most frames of the time, but the construction is not as rigid. It's extremely comfortable and forgiving.
Sean Kelly rode the 979 for many years and won numerous victories.
Our example is equipped with Shimano 600EX rear and Dura ace front, and Rigida wheels.
