Santa Cruz has specialized in mountain bikes from the beginning and enjoys a very good reputation worldwide. From XC bikes to downhill bikes everything is represented and you also get some e-bikes as MTB. If you are looking for a good trail bike the Santa Cruz Tallboy is a good choice. It will make your rides in the mountains a real pleasure.
The Tallboy mountain bike is called the downhiller's XC bike which you can use across genres. It's made for countless hours off-road without showing signs of fatigue. Even at the end of the day you'll have fun with it and always want to hang on for one more lap. It comes with the technically revised Virtual Pivot Point suspension or VPP for short. The lower-link VPP rear end can be used for a short suspension travel just as good as on a downhill bike. It absorbs bumps very well and you can pedal efficiently.
The excellent handling is ensured among other things by the proportional frame geometry. The trail bike has a different length at the chainstay depending on the frame size. The seat angle thereby becomes steeper and the rear end increases proportionally to the frame. This leads to the fact that all riders come into the same enjoyment in driving behavior. You get at each size an optimal stiffness for best driving pleasure.
You'll enjoy as well the glovebox which is integrated into the down tube. Despite the damper opposite it fits a bottle cage including water bottles over it. You can store a tool bag, a rain jacket or a wallet into the glovebox. This avoids having annoying parts hanging on the frame which can interfere on your trips.
The Tallboy is available in several variants such as Tallboy GX AXS, Tallboy C, Tallboy 4 or Tallboy 5. With the Tallboy X01 AXS RSV you will find the most powerful bike in the current range. The wheel size is the 29-inch version for all bikes. You have the option to choose between the Carbon C and Carbon CC frameset. The frame size is available from XS to XXL covering most of the spectrum.
Skateboarding legend Rob Roskopp who is an equally avid mountain biker founded Santa Cruz Bicycles in 1994. The company is still headquartered in Santa Cruz, California even though it has long outgrown its original garage. Finding the selection of mountain bikes too limited Rob decided to explore other avenues. The first bike was the Tazmon and now a wide range of products for every purpose is ready for you. To promote mountain biking the company donated $1 million to the PayDirt Fund. This ensures that more trails are available for more riders to experience the joy of mountain biking.
In addition to products from its own research laboratory Santa Cruz relies on a number of renowned manufacturers. Depending on the model the bikes are composed differently so that you achieve the best possible result on your tours. Among them are the components of well-known manufacturers such as Shimano or SRAM. Furthermore the components of WTB, RockShox, Fox, Maxxis and DT Swiss are used.
At the rear derailleur, shifter and other parts of the shifting group you will find the high-quality products of SRAM. For the bottom bracket the SRAM DUB 68/73 mm Threaded BB is the common choice you can rely on. The SRAM XG1275 Eagle is the preferred choice for the cassette. For the crank, the SRAM GX Eagle 148 DUB is used, among others. Also for the chain you will find a SRAM GX Eagle product with the SRAM GX Eagle 12 Speed.
In addition the products of Shimano fit very well with the Tallboy. You can combine them at will with the products from SRAM in the frameset. Shimano and SRAM are similar in terms of quality and the choice is often a personal preference.
All Tallboy models are equipped with high-quality disc brakes. Brake discs allow you precise braking especially in wet conditions. There is also no wear on the rims as with rim brakes.
Despite a relatively small suspension travel of 130 mm front and 120 mm rear it is a versatile bike. The full-suspension MTB convinces in Enduro excursions almost as well as in cross-country tours. This is ensured by the sophisticated frame geometry and the correct adjustment of the chassis. In the rear you get among others the Fox Float Factory DPS and the Fox Float Performance DPS shock. With the flip-chip technology you can adjust the suspension to your liking. For the suspension fork several RockShox Pike versions and the Fox 34 Float Performance are used.
For the saddle Santz Cruz has chosen the WTB Silverado Medium CroMo and WTB Silverado Medium Ti. The Silverado Medium CroMo is made of carbon and the Silverado Ti Medium has titanium struts. The Love Channel prevents pressure points on the butt and the HLX padding absorbs 30% more than a polyurethane saddle.
For the seatpost, you have two models to choose from, the SDG Tellis Dropper and RockShox Reverb Stealth. You'll get the SDG Tellis Dropper on the cheaper bikes and the RockShox Reverb Stealth on the higher-end bikes.
For the handlebars you get products from different brands depending on the model you choose. The steering angle has an inclination of 65.5 degrees in the flat setting. A handlebar-stem combination is the Burgtec RideWide Alluminum handlebar with the Burgtec Enduro MK3 stem. In addition the RaceFace Ride and Santa Cruz 35 carbon handlebars are also used. Both are also set on the Burgtec Enduro MK3 stem. As headset the Cane Creek 40 IS Integrated is used.
The Tallboy comes standard with 29-inch wheels and the RaceFace AR Offset 30 and Reserve 30 SL wheelset are used. The RaceFace AR Offset 30 rims are combined with hubs from SRAM, I9 or DT Swiss. The wheelset is asymmetrically designed and has a high stiffness. It is extremely robust and you can use it from cross-country to enduro. You can chosse the sizes from 25 mm to 40 mm. For the front rotor and rear rotor the Avid Centerline 180 mm is the preferred choice.
For the tire set a combination of Maxxis is relied upon. At the rear wheel the Maxxis Rekon 29 "x2.4 "WT, 3C MaxxTerra, EXO, TR is used. In the front you get the Maxxis Dissector 29 "x2.4 "WT, 3C MaxxTerra, EXO, TR. The combination is perfect for aggressive trail riding preferably fast and on dry surfaces. The Maxxis Dissector has a better rolling resistance but still a very good grip for a front tire. A very good traction control for a comfortable ride is provided by the Maxxis Rekon.
For trips to the trails protectors and protective clothing are very suitable. In addition we recommend a helmet and a bottle cage plus water bottle.

Santa Cruz offers you a wide range of MTBs for every purpose. The majority of the bikes are fullys but also hardtails are in the range such as the Highball or Chameleon. With the Stigmata the Californians offer an excellent gravel bike that is ideal for bikepacking. If you like to ride on pumptracks the Jackal is the right choice to have fun with. The fullys go off with the Blur and a 100 - 115 mm travel and stop at the Santa Cruz V10 whose suspension has a 215 mm travel.
The length of the suspension determines how well the bike travels in certain regions. The lower the travel is the easier you ride uphill but do downhill harder and vice versa. The wheel size is usually set on the 29-inchers or on a mixture as mullet bike. As an e-bike the Santa Cruz Bullit and the Santa Cruz Heckler are available for you. You can use them to endlessly shoot down the slopes and ride back up with motorized help.
