The new Tarmac was created to be fast, without 'ifs' or 'buts,' and is more than just a masterpiece of aerodynamics. The lightweight Rider-First Engineered™ frame provides excellent ride quality for all frame sizes. This Tarmac will help you conquer your new personal, KOM and podium records. The fastest bike on any road.
The new Tarmac Comp has an SL7 frame, and rides the new SRAM Rival eTap AXS 12-speed groupset-a lightweight all-round bike with wireless shifting at a reasonable price.
In the journey to create the new Tarmac, as well as for all our road racing bikes, weight was another discriminating factor. Previously, aero bikes paid a toll in the weight aspect-the more you reduced air resistance, the more weight you increased. With the Tarmac, our philosophy in design was to keep it, as standard, at or just below the UCI regulation limit. With the FreeFoil Shape Library, tools like FEA analysis, and some high-level engineering 'tricks,' we succeeded.
Always with the goal of developing the best bike for road racing, we used our Rider-First Engineered™ technology to ensure that the new Tarmac was balanced and handled well in every frame size. Thanks to feedback received from our athletes on the three pro teams Boels-Dolmans, Deceuninck-Quick-Step, and Bora-hansgrohe and based on their thousands of miles on the road , we made changes on the Tarmac. A new balance for ride quality between the front end and the rear wagon, so that even very long days in the saddle are more comfortable, without compromising the Tarmac's legendary handling and responsiveness.
Our experience in creating the Venge also helped us in creating a clean and fast 'cockpit'. The cable routing has been improved for any configuration--mechanical shifting, traditional stem, round profile handlebars, etc. - while maintaining aerodynamics. The same features that make the new Tarmac user-friendly and practical for travel.
