Since 2006, the Unbound Gravel Race has taken place in the heart of Kansas, in Emporia. This race attracts 4,000 gravel enthusiasts from around the world every year, as well as the best athletes in the discipline. If you dream of pushing your limits and are ready to face the plains of the Midwest, this race is for you.

    Among the different races offered, the most sought-after one covers 200 miles and is known for its rocky terrain that puts tires to the test. The course is also famous for its endless straightaways and the iconic “Flint Hills” of Kansas, swept by the winds.

    SBT GRVL – Colorado’s Premier Gravel Event

    SBT GRVL is one of the most scenic and competitive gravel races in the U.S., taking place in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.     Rebecca’s Private Idaho (RPI) is an iconic gravel race hosted by endurance cycling legend Rebecca Rusch. Taking place in the stunning backcountry of Idaho, the event offers a mix of challenging climbs, fast descents, and breathtaking scenery.     Monaco Gravel Race

    The first edition of the Monaco Gravel Race will take place on April 19 and 20, 2025, in Peille, Alpes-Maritimes. This new event is part of the UCI Gravel World Series and will qualify for the 2025 Gravel World Championships in Nice. The courses will explore the stunning gravel paths of the Mercantour National Park, providing a preview of the terrain for the world championships in October.

    For competitors seeking their entry ticket for the worlds, two qualifying routes will be available: 120 km and 83 km. You might be wondering how to qualify for the 2025 Gravel World Championships? To clarify, those who finish in the fastest 25% of their age category will qualify.

    If competition isn't your thing, the organizers have planned the Monaco Gravel Tour: free-start rides designed to bring together gravel enthusiasts who enjoy exploring the region.

    • When? April 19 and 20, 2025
    • How to get there? Monaco is accessible by train, car, and plane (Nice airport is 30 minutes away). For those not using a car, you'll need to commute to Peille, the starting point of the race.
    • Proposed courses: 120 km and 83 km for the world qualifier, and 110 km and 50 km for the rides.
    • Who can participate? Open to both amateurs and competitors looking to qualify for the worlds, as well as beginners.

    The Traka

    In just a few years, The Traka has established itself as the reference gravel race in Europe. It takes place in Girona, Catalonia, every early May. The event gathers thousands of gravel enthusiasts around several races that traverse the paths of the Costa Brava.

    With race formats for all levels, including a time trial climb, The Traka offers a wide range of competitions to cater to all riders. Whether you're craving adventure or you're a seasoned competitor, The Traka provides a unique opportunity to push your limits in one of the most beautiful environments in Europe.

    • When? May 1 to 4, 2025.
    • How to get there? Girona is accessible by car, train, or plane (Barcelona airport is 40 minutes away).
    • Proposed courses: 560 km, 360 km, 200 km, 100 km, time trial climb of 3.4 km.
    • Who can participate? Open to both amateurs and experienced cyclists.

    The Rift Gravel Race – Conquer Iceland’s Lava Fields

    The Rift Gravel Race is a true bucket-list event, taking riders through the remote and breathtaking landscapes of Iceland. This one-day ultra-endurance race challenges cyclists with rugged lava fields, river crossings, and vast open plains, all set against the dramatic backdrop of Iceland’s highlands. The unpredictable weather adds to the adventure, making it one of the most unique gravel races in the world.

    • When? July 26, 2025
    • How to get there? The race starts in Hvolsvöllur, Iceland, which is about a 1.5-hour drive from Reykjavík. The nearest airport is Keflavík International Airport (KEF), with rental cars and buses available for transportation.
    • Proposed course: The Rift – 200 km (124 miles) of remote Icelandic gravel, featuring challenging terrain and breathtaking scenery.
    • Who can participate? Open to experienced gravel riders looking for a challenging and unforgettable adventure.

    UCI Gravel World Championship

    The Gravel World Championships bring together the best athletes from around the world each year. It’s an opportunity for many professionals to test themselves on a mixed and varied course. After Italy in 2024, France and the city of Nice will host the Gravel World Championships in 2025. “Nice and our metropolitan area represent an extraordinary playground for cycling in all its forms and for large organizations,” stated Christian Estrosi, mayor of Nice. For now, the course details have not yet been revealed. However, there’s no doubt that between the stunning beaches and the iconic peaks of the Mercantour, the backdrop of the Côte d'Azur will offer a marvelous course.

    • How to get there? Accessible by car or train from Nice station.
    • Proposed courses: To be announced.
    • Who can participate? Open to professionals and experienced cyclists who qualify through the qualifying rounds of the Gravel World Series calendar.

    Roc D’azur Gravel

    While the Roc d’Azur is globally recognized as the largest mountain bike gathering in the world, it has become an essential event for gravel in recent years. The Roc, in numbers, features over 20,000 participants from 50 different countries, 34 events, 300 exhibitors, and nearly 150,000 visitors over five days. Gravel has been part of the program since 2016 and continues to grow within the event. Although the events for 2025 have not yet been disclosed, this event is a unique opportunity to explore the Massif des Maures and Esterel, all under the sun of the Côte d’Azur.

    • How to get there? Accessible by car or train from Fréjus - Saint-Raphaël station.

    Badlands – The Ultimate Unsupported Gravel Adventure

    Badlands is one of Europe’s toughest ultra-distance gravel races, taking riders through the breathtaking yet brutal desert landscapes of southern Spain. This self-supported event covers remote mountain passes, rugged gravel roads, and the only deserts in mainland Europe, including the stunning Gorafe and Tabernas deserts.
