I actually feel a little guilty that I bought such an expensive bike and then never rode it again. I rode a cheap bike from Math Salden for years, and then when I finally treated myself to something nice, I got injured, then met my wife, ... now we ride the Huka Duet together for a bit. It was always my line of thought that you can also ride nice with a cheaper bike, I did have an ultegra group and good wheels, but I thought you have to earn good material. Surely the truth is a little more nuanced. Surely it is a real pleasure to ride this bike. The stiffness and responsiveness is a sensation. It's hard to describe, but you ride differently with a bike like this. At every moment I was aware of how much better it was compared to my previous one. That is why I kept it for a long time: it is better to have this obsolete model (without electric shifting, wide tires and latest trends) than a new bike of inferior quality. In my opinion, I am doing you a huge favor: for a fraction of the price of a lesser new model, you have a quasi pro bike. It has always been inside in our apartment, and considering the few miles it has covered, it still looks very good. I suspect a checkup is wise anyway before you go on big rides, but the wear parts are barely broken in. Tires, chain, cassette, brakes, ... all still perfect.
