This assumes that most of the time the airstream only hits the frame at an angle of +/-5°. Previously, flatter angles of +/- 10° were assumed in frame construction. Accordingly, the tube cross-sections look different. While the tubes of the AR predecessor were still completely rounded and resembled an ellipse in cross-section, the new tubes have been rounded at the front and blunted at the rear. According to measurements, the new, more angular shape of the tubes makes the frame even stiffer at the bottom bracket and head tube, while the chainstays and seat tube have also been optimized for wider wheels. This means that up to 30 mm tires can be fitted. The thru axles are flush with the dropouts, resulting in a smooth transition. There is a specially designed chain catcher on the bottom bracket, which prevents the chain from jumping off the small chainring or getting wedged between the bottom bracket and crank. The stem and handlebars are made of carbon as standard. The brake and gear cables are integrated into the stem, thus reducing air turbulence at the front.
