The C5 was the manufacturer's top model at the time and played in the same league as the Peugeot PX, Gitane, or Mercier Tour de France. The frame was hand-brazed from high-quality Columbus SL. Because of this, only very high-quality French components were installed.

The groupset is a Huret Success Titane, which was already weight-optimized with titanium parts. The rear derailleur thus weighs only 175g.
