This splendid vintage Eddy Merckx Professional, size 56, from the first production series (E 4668 = 1982) is made using Reynolds 531 tubing. This can be deduced from the engravings on the bottom bracket. The frame-set has some added extras, of which the partial workshop note found in the seat-tube is evidence: double bottle cages and the frame number are written on the note. Internally routed rear brake cable, and under-BB shift cables are also extras. The frame has been resprayed in the past in a beautiful dark-blue metallic, with white details and lettering. Alas, some unevenness in the clear paint is visible on the seat-tube, next to a damaged decal, both on the non-drive side. The bike is fitted with its original Campagnolo Super Record group-set, including some Eddy Merckx pantos, with accompanying original 3ttt "Merckx" stem and "Merckx" handle-bar. A Selle Italia RS saddle, type "Merckx" completes the set up. The Campagnolo Record and Mavic M40 rimmed wheelset runs smooth and straight. In order for you to start at an Eroica immediately all worn parts have been exchanged for new/NOS parts: brake-pads, brake/shift-cables including NOS derailleur cable, Atom/Maillard 6 spd freewheel, chain, bar tape and tires. A set of original Spidel/Maillard pedals are fitted but can be exchanged for period NOS Wellgo pedals.
