For sale: A Bianchi Rekord 940 from approx. 1988, size 57cc/58CT, in its original iconic Celeste colour. The original paint job is showing signs of crazing or craquelé, which some would say adds to the vintage patina. Although there are a few chips and retouches there are no dents or scratches nor rust issues. The frame is made of the same Bianchi Formula Two tubing, by Columbus, as the high-end Giro model. It has been sealed with carnauba wax just in case.
The bike has a period correct set of Campagnolo Chorus components from the first generation and first year, stamped 41 on the crank. The Chorus Monoplaner brakes are in excellent condition as are the non-aero brake-levers with original hoods. The front and rear derailleurs (the first slant parallelogram design) are in very good condition, as are the original friction shifters. The Campagnolo Chorus groupset is one of the the longest running groupset of Campagnolo, and known for its superior action and reliability. A reputation it had right from the start.
A set of original Chorus pedals, with Campagnolo clips and matching binders, are attached to the crank. These are in good shape and run smooth, with no play. In the original Campagnolo Chorus headset, which is like new, there is a nice black 3ttt stem and matching Paris-Roubaix handlebars. On the Campagnolo seat post there is a very nice San Marco Rolls saddle, in black leather to match the cockpit. The Chorus/FIR EL25 clincher wheelset is in excellent condition, with the Chorus hubs running smooth with no play. On the Regina Extra "America" 7 speed freewheel, there runs a new chain. New tires, cables and nice white handlebar tape complete the period correct picture. The (still working) SKS pump that came with the bike is added for that additional vintage feel. This bicycle is ready to ride, for you as a Bianchi enthusiast, to join the Celeste Club on your next Eroica event.
