Not only the Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling Team has found favor with the Orbea Orca. The trade press also donates praising words. Roadbike, for example, calls it a flexible and fast bike with a good riding position. From Cyclist comes the assessment that the Orbea, with OMX frame, is a balanced mix.
On the one hand there is the regular Orca and then the aerodynamic version, with the Orbea Orca Aero. The new Orca road bikes bring even more power to the ground than their predecessors. You will notice right at the first step in the pedals, how lubricated all components mesh.
Orbea Orca: The frames are made of OMX and OMR carbon. The carbon OMX framesets are slightly lighter than the ORM models. The racing geometry of the frame promises a good stiffness and comfort. For this Orbea has relied on monocoque construction, including powermeter compatibility. This is joined by the Orbea OMX ICR suspension fork with the Orbea Thru Axle M12x2 P1, which rounds off the package.
The Internal Cable Routing runs under the stem, over the head tube into the frame interior. This results in less noise and the appearance is greatly improved. A positive side effect is the protection from wind and weather.
The Orca is available, for example, as Orbea Orca M20ILTD, Orca M10ILTD PWR and Orbea Orca M30. Other models include the Orbea Orca M40, Orbea Orca M21ELTD and Orca M11ELTD. There is also the Orca M20ITEAM, Orca M20TEAM and Orca M31ETEAM.
Orbea Orca-Aero: The Orbea Orca Aero has a monocoque frame made of high-quality carbon. Since it comes down to balance in a bike, equal emphasis was placed on aerodynamics, weight and stiffness. This provides a few more watts of power on the track than its predecessors.
With the new Orbea Orca Aero you are even faster on the road and the driving experience is of the finest. With the good aero properties you will race with ease over the asphalt. You glide like a knife through butter, so precisely the components were connected together.
Under MyO you have the possibility to design the Orca according to your own wishes. You can work your way up from inexpensive models to bikes in the 5-digit euro range. You can then order the frameset with your desired color choice. You can choose between colors like Metallic Boreal Blue and Raw Carbon.
The Orbea Orca and Orca Aero you can also choose in the colors of the Ceratizit WNT Pro Cycling Team. The team was founded in 2014 as a local venture, but after a short time, notable female riders joined. Since 2017, Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling has been a professional team. It is international in scope and represented in cycling by 16 female riders from 9 countries.
The Orca bikes, as well as the other Orbea bikes, have a lifetime warranty on the frame. All you have to do is register for it and the warranty will outlast the legal requirements.
If your frame is damaged, you can order a new frame at a special price.
Other bikes in the Orbea range are:
Road bike: Avant, Terra
Mountain bike: Laufey, Oiz, Rallon, Occam, Alma, Onna
Triathlon: Ordu
Urban: Carpe, Vector
Junior: Laufey Junior, MX Junior, Onna Junior
E-Bike: Road bike, Mountain bike, Urban
Each model in itself offers a small selection of components that you can choose. This can vary and sometimes you can choose the groupset and the next model the saddle. Again, on other Orca bikes you can change the wheelset or the tire choice.
For this Orbea relies on manufacturers such as Shimano, SRAM, Vision, Vittoria, Fizik, Prolog, Mavic or even Selle Italia. For some of the components Orbea relies on its own expertise. The parts were precisely adapted to the bikes, for best possible results in racing.
Derailleur groups: For the rear derailleur or front derailleur, the SRAM Rival eTap AXS is used, among others. Other shift groups are the Shimano 105, Shimano Ultegra as well as the Shimano Ultegra Di2. In addition to the Ultegra Di2, the SRAM Rival eTap AXS and the Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 are also electronic.
Brakes: The brakes are also mostly from Shimano and SRAM. Even the cheapest model relies on disc brakes. Especially at high speeds, it depends on the best possible braking point. The longer you can approach the curve at full throttle, the more time you get out. Another reason for disc brakes is braking performance. It's one reason why you see fewer and fewer rim brakes on new bikes, especially premium bikes.
Saddle: Depending on the Orca variant, there are up to three saddle models to choose from. They come from Fizik, Selle Italia and Prologo.
Seatpost: The seatpost can be selected in different lengths, matching the frame size and size of the driver.
Handlebar & Stem: On the older models, you'll find the OC Riser or OC Compact handlebars. The new bikes come with OC Road Performance Stem and Handlebars or OC Road Aero Handlebars.
Wheels: As a wheelset, for example, the Vision 40 Tubeless Ready and the Fulcrum Racing is used. For the front wheel axle, the Orbea Thru Axle M12x2 P1 is the standard equipment. For an additional charge, you can choose the Mavic Speed Release M12x2 P1.0.
Tires: The Vittoria Corsa Competition is an excellent tire for road bikes. You have the choice between several tire widths. Furthermore, the Vittoria Zafiro and Vittoria Rubino are used.
A water bottle and the right clothes are a must for your shopping cart. Otherwise, not much is actually needed for a road bike.
If you have completely decided against the Orca models, Orbea offers other bikes. The Orbea Avant is the right choice if you cover long and enduring distances. The Orbea Terra is a gravel bike that you can use for competitions and excursions.
The Orbea Oiz and Orbea Alma are both cross-country mountain bikes. With them you make uphill as well as downhill a good figure. With the Orbea Laufey and Orbea Occam, the fun goes more towards theTrails down. However, they also master climbs without any problems. With the Orbea Rallon, the focus is definitely on plowing through the trails really nicely. Uphill it will take you when there is no other way, but the fun you experience downhill. The Orbea Onna is a good beginner mountain bike with which you can get a taste of the MTB world.
For triathletes, Orbea offers the Ordu. It offers as little attack surface as possible for the hunt for best times. To be best equipped for everyday use, Orbea has the Carpe and Vector Urban bikes in its range,
For younger riders, Orbea offers three models. The Laufey Junior and Onna Junior are mountain bikes for kids. So they learn relatively early to cope with challenging terrain. They will definitely have fun with them. What child doesn't like to be out in the forest and nature? The MX-Junior is a solid bike to start with.
An e-bike is just the thing for you if you like electronic support. It doesn't matter whether it's a road bike, mountain bike or urban bike. On a road bike it can support you on the last kilometers and on a mountain bike it can help you on steep climbs. In everyday life, you can switch on the motor when you've done too much shopping, or just want to ride around comfortably.
The Orbea bikes are consistently well equipped and promise good performance in the respective field of application. For the quality you must be willing to spend some money, because even the cheaper models convince with the equipment. The good prices including the workmanship will not make you regret a purchase.
Although the history of the company goes back to 1840, it took a full 80 years before Orbea started producing bicycles. Nevertheless, they have now accumulated more than 100 years of experience and are rightly represented among the premium manufacturers.
If you don't want to wait countless business days for a new bike, a used Orbea bike might be worth it. If you want to see it for yourself, you can test ride it. If you like it, you can then take it home free of charge.
